Is life feeling overwhelming? Are the relationships with your family or loved ones not what they should be? Do you know what you need to do, but aren’t sure how to do it? Do you have behaviors that you want to change? Or maybe you feel like you’re the only one with these problems — that no one else could possibly understand what you’re going through? It may be surprising, but what you’re going through is likely more common than you think.
I have spent the last 5 years helping people in their relationships with themselves and others. Whether you are trying to repair a relationship with a friend or family member or change something specific about yourself, learning the skills to navigate and understand these problems can help you develop into the person you want to be.
In my work as a therapist, I’ve helped couples, families, and individuals make the changes they want to make in their life. I have experience with depression, anxiety, trauma, addiction, and compulsive repetitious behaviors. I’ve worked in outpatient, residential, and correctional settings. No matter what you bring into therapy, I will find a way to help you.
I take the time to listen and understand what your situation is like specifically, then work with you on tailoring treatment into something that works for you. I use evidence based methods to help you figure out what you are thinking, feeling, and how you are interacting with the important people in your life. Then we look at how we can change what needs to be changed. Together, we can find a way to work toward a brighter life.
You may have some questions or concerns:
How do I know you will understand what I am going through?
Therapy is a tailored relationship between two people. If the therapist and client do not connect, therapy will not succeed. Therapy is the place you go to find someone who listens to what you’re going through, big or small, until they are able to understand the effect it is having on your life. Therapy does not move forward until the therapist is able to understand what you are telling them. I have years of experience and specialized training which allows me to listen empathically, connect to your experience, and provide effective therapy.
I’ve tried therapy before and it hasn’t helped me. What is going to be different this time?
Having a good fit between the personalities of the therapist and the client are of the utmost importance in therapy. Regardless of their qualifications, it is essential for the therapist and client to connect. This is why I offer a free 30 minute consultation — so we can see if I am the therapist who can help you become a person that you are proud to be.
I’m worried about the cost.
Therapy is an investment into your future and your emotional growth. Depression, anxiety, and poor relationships cost you in lost experiences and lost opportunities. Have you been too depressed or frustrated to attend an event, or too anxious to jump at an opportunity? Have your concerns started affecting your professional life? Then you know firsthand the cost of not making this investment. The skills you learn in therapy will help you grow and develop the skills for a more fulfilling life, and allow you to take advantage of the opportunities that life presents to you. Additionally, if cost is an issue, I offer a sliding scale for clients. We can make sure we find the right fee for you.
So I’ve decided to enter into therapy. What now?
